Impossible to follow Crochet Pattern HELP

Forum: Crochet Patterns

Hi everyone,

I want to make this sweater but I cannot follow the instructions as they have been written in a unconventional way.
Could anyone help me understanding this? (From when it start with the Yoke would be good!)
Thanks!!

Hi Jusifay,

That sweater is very cute. I just might make this one myself! I believe the instructions you are having a difficult time with are the ones with a string of numbers followed by a stitch.

For example,
“YOKE:
Work 96-101-101-110-115-120 ch on hook…”

If that’s the case, then here’s the solution:
The string of numbers correspond to the size you are making. According to the pattern, the Jumper/Sweater sizes are S – M – L – XL – XXL – XXXL. Therefore, in the quoted instructions above from the Yoke section, you would do 96 for a small, 101 for a medium, 101 for a large, 110 for an extra large, 115 for an extra extra large, or 120 for an extra extra large.

I hope this helps.

Happy crocheting!

Hi Abruderer,

Thank you for your reply!
No I dont have a problem with that, I chose size M so I went for 101 ch.

From Rowund 2 for example, it says:

Work A.1 over the first 10-12-12-12-14-14 dc (= 5-6-6-6-7-7 times in width), A.2 over the next 8 dc (= 2 times in width), A.1 over the next 6-6-6-8-8-8 dc (= 3-3-3-4-4-4 times in width), A.2 over the next 8 dc (= 2 times in width), A.1 over the next 20-22-22-24-26-28 dc (= 10-11-11-12-13-14 times in width), A.2 over the next 8 dc (= 2 times in width), A.1 over the next 6-6-6-8-8-8 dc (= 3-3-3-4-4-4 times in width), A.2 over the next 8 dc (= 2 times in width), A.1 over the last 10-10-10-12-12-14 dc (= 5-5-5-6-6-7 times in width).

I get very lost, I wish it said something like dc, skip 1 ch, dc in the next 12 stiches, increase once, dc, skip 1 ch, dc in the next 6 stiches. Dont know…

Never got past Round 4 so Im not sure how complicated the rest is gonna be :( Its a shame because I really like the sweater.

Thanks!

I was going to try and help you, but I agree, that’s a hard pattern to follow! I find drops has some amazing patterns but are often written in a complicated way :(
