crocheting a cross

Forum: Crochet Stitches

Hello My Friends,
I just found you……and I am so happy. I am a long time crocheter……but consider myself a novice because I’ve only made afghans and baby blankets……nothing that took much imagination or artistry. My work is always a pleasure and always loved by whoever receives my gift. I have now decided to ‘step out of the box’ and would love to make a crochet cocoon for my daughter….. I’ve done 4 granny squares for the center of the back…..forming a cross……I’ve stitched them together and now want to surround them with a few rows and somehow work it into a square that I can continue to complete the cocoon. Does anyone have any ideas or instructions for me…….I just need a little ‘push’ and would so appreciate your help. All replies are welcomed. God Bless

what about making plain white granny squares and attach them around the cross, creating a rectangle, and then work it into a cocoon.
