Hello, I'm new to this site

Forum: Introduce Yourself

My name is Melissa, I just found this site and am thrilled to find it, any useful and helpful information about how to navigate around and get the most benefits will be greatly appreciated.
I’ve been crocheting off & on since I was taught the basics as a child, & have self taught myself more advance stitches and projects over the years through video tutorials and trail & error, I have mostly made baby afghans and beanies and such but am now challenging myself to finally learn how to read patterns and move to more advance projects, so any helpful websites or info with that would be great!
1 last question, any recommendations on how to prevent blisters on my crochet hook middle finger? Any gadgets to add to hooks or any type hooks I may need to change to from the aluminum ones I’m using now?
Thanks, Melissa

Welcome to the community!

For patterns, if you find one you want to try and come to something you don’t understand, just ask and we’ll see what we can do to help.

As for a blister, I am wondering if you are holding your hook really tight? If so, try a few stitches with a very gentle hold on the hook.
Also, I see people who have put foam around their hook (pencil training gadgets??) and this softens it.

Hi Melissa! Welcome to the Crochet Community! Don’t let all the information on this site overwhelm you! Just start wherever you, keep going, and you’re bound to get better!

There is NO such thing as a silly question, especially when you are learning a new stitch, skill, etc. We’ve all been there! Welcome, again and I can’t wait to see what you’ve been working on!

Sincerely, Linda, Peabody, Massachusetts
