Introducing, "ME"!

Forum: Introduce Yourself

Hi there. . I’m a dabbler. I’ve made a few sweaters and a few afghans but it has been a while since I’ve crocheted anything,

When I was making the afghans, I enjoyed getting into the rhythm and being able to crochet while watching TV and, having been unsuccessful at knitting and absolutely hating quilting (my Mom & aunt’s hobby), I was thrilled to find that I could be crafty as well!

Debbie (life & crocheting have a lot in common: it's all about one stitch at a time.)

Nice yo meet you Debbie :). Just wondering – why do you hate quilting?

all those tiny little stitches… over and over and over again…. I lasted about 30 seconds at it.
You need to be a perfectionist to quilt – and that is not me!

My Mom, on the other hand has whipped together about 7 queen-size quilts in a single winter season. She has won many “first place ribbons” and special recognitions for her quilts.

Debbie Pribele ...

I’m semi-retired… so lots of free time, if I so choose .. not a lot of scheduled times! So nice.

Debbie, I totally agree with you about the quilting. I have a friend that is a perfectionist when it comes to sewing and she uses her skill to quilt also. She wants me to quilt with her but I just can’t imagine doing all those little perfect stitches over and over again. I love to knit. My mother taught me when I was 12 and I am now 62. I taught myself how to crochet and have only been doing it for a few years. So many stitches and great things to make. If I live to be 100 I will never be able to crochet all the things I have patterns for….lol. BTW, nice to meet you!

nice to meet you pat

Nice to meet you, too.
Interesting re: those perfect little stitches. I might not be able to do it but I can recognize good quilting when I see it: tiny stitches, closely and evenly spaced.
