Crochet.Community Collaboration #1- Mandala 2015 #19: Row 7: VOTING

We have all had a busy week, apparently, with brainstorming ideas not appearing until last night/this morning.
But we still have options!!
Try them out and pick your fave.

[a thick round of popcorn stitches. YouTube has several videos on ‘Crochet Popcorn Stitch’ if you need them. Start at a peak instead of above the puffs.]

Ch3, dc in same sc. Counts as 2 dc in one stitch at top of peak.
In next single, make 4 dc in same stitch, then remove hook from last loop,
insert hook to right side of first dc of batch, pass hook behind all four dc, through the abandoned loop, yo and pull loosely through all, tightening at the back. One popcorn made.
Dc in next 2 singles, form another popcorn (4 dc in same st, remove hook, reach behind first dc of batch, thru loop, yo and pull through all to tighten.)
Dc in each of next 2 singles and repeat around.
They’re bumpy and raise the madalion into a 3D effect. I didn’t count stitches, just worked my way around and made it work, finishing off with two final dc and a slip stitch to the original ch 3 I started with.

Instructions = [Dc-cross: skip nxt st, dc in next, dc in skipped st. dc-cross made.]

Attach yarn with sl st in middle of 3 hdc loop. Sc in same st, ch 3, [sc in nxt 2 sts, dc in nxt st, dc-cross over nxt 2 sts, dc nxt st, sc nxt 2 st, ch 3] 9x, sc in nxt 2 sts, dc in nxt st, dc-cross over nxt 2 sts, dc nxt st, sc nxt st, sl st to first sc.

[it kind of looks like little hearts, at least for now. Next row can work into the chain 5 loops, over/under the chain 5 stretches.]

[starting in single crochet, half double crochet, and single crochet) in the 3 chain space] of row 6]
[sc into the chain in row 5; chain 5; sc in same space] chain 5; 2sc in top of the [half double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet ] of row 6; chain 5 …… and repeat around.
17stitches x 5= 85 stitches

BarbS ...

I actually like option 2 best…those wavy edges really add emphasis where I think we need it. We can always add bobbles or popcorns in a later row.

EllieJo ...

BarbS ...

oh no! It’s a toss up! we need more votes. :-)

Kristi ...

I like 2 also,
sorry been busy saw Wynonna last night she thanked me on twitter for the shawl plus 4 row from being done with a black shawl then gonna catch up here, my SU CAL on Monday, then pick up the thread/yarn to make a moss green shawl on Tuesday lol and hubby fighting a cold sigh

Debbie Pribele ...

Kristi — how wonderful!!! (about the shawl, not about the cold)

and BarbS .. everyone must be really busy this week. I hope we don’t get a tie. I don’t want to have to be the deciding vote!

Genie48 ...

meanjaws ...

I have made all 3 and I like option 3 the best
