Dress (Infant)

I saw this pretty little dress and it reminded me of a watermelon and so I attempted making it.
The green I chose, should have been brighter to create the “watermelon” but, as it is, I still like it.

Pattern: "Crochet Supernova ":http://crochetsn.blogspot.ca/2014/07/lil-slice-of-sweetness-dress-free.html (thank-you for posting this free pattern)
I changed it a bit (besides any errors that I made) for the black, since I used some leftover black that I had, which was that bumpy yarn that is hard to work with, I did just three stitches in the space instead of working within the stitches.

Crochet Hook: I used a 5mm and a 6mm
Yarn: Red Heart Soft Touch: pink, green and leftover pieces of white and the black/grey

Now to wait til I see my granddaughter again to see if it fits .. if not, I’ll be putting it on the cabbage patch doll I guess.
Oh.. and total time to make it: 5 hours

thanks :)

Debbie Pribele ...

I put it on the cabbage patch doll, this morning (see added picture) .. and I don’t think it is going to fit the wee one — or not for long, anyway.
but … I found out that I can make a dress!

Wanna ...

I like your version better than the original pattern.
But I will have to figure your stitches

Debbie Pribele ...

As far as I know, the only change is how I did the row of black

Debbie Pribele ...

I’m doing it again ….

here is the yarn I have selected for dress #2.

This version:

  • no third colour (around waist and bottom of skirt)
  • added a “violet” flower to the skirt
  • created a headband with “violets” on it, using the 3 colours of the dress plus a darker purple

it is for a 3 month old. We’ll see how well it fits.
The first one, for a 6 month old, the sleeves were too tight and it fit more like a top than a dress.
